Free Workshop on Keeping Backyard Chickens

Just a reminder that tonight, Wednesday June 18, I’ll be hosting a free workshop as part of the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Park District Speaker Series.

I hope you can join us to learn everything you need to know to raise backyard chickens.  If you’re just starting out… or looking for a way to manage a healthier and more natural flock, this workshop might have something for you.

We’ll discuss local laws, breed selection, how to house, feed, and care for your birds, and much more.  You might be surprised just how easy it is, especially considering the many benefits chickens provide in addition to a healthy breakfast.  This program will be presented by Mike Kinsey, Owner of Gentleman Homestead Consulting.

Registration is encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome.

The program begins at 7:00PM at 2751 Washington Mill Rd, Bellbrook, OH 45305 (<– Google Map link).

Hope to see you there!

  1. Someday, I hope to have backyard chickens. After reading your response to my last post, I guess there’s hope!

Hey Mike – are you recording your talks? If yes, are you putting them on You Tube or will you be imbedding them into your posts? I ask this because there is no way I will be able to travel to Ohio just to listen to one of your talks (though if money wasn’t an issue….), however I would love to see them! Please consider doing this. You have a lot of good information to share, and it would be a shame that those who don’t live in Ohio can’t partake!

Hey Vickie, I did in fact record them. I have the most recent Intro to Permaculture workshop posted on my YouTube channel. You can see Part 1 of 2 at this link:

The video isn’t great due to me not checking lighting beforehand but it’s serviceable. I haven’t put up this chicken talk as I haven’t watched it yet to know if it turned out well enough to see everything.

Your compliments mean more to me than you know! I’m a big fan of your blog and have been reading for awhile. If you end up watching the presentations, I’d appreciate any feedback you have either in a comment or email or something. Thanks!
